At the End of Day 1 England was at 331 for the loss of 4 wickets. Pakistan managed to get only four wickets on Day 1. Pakistan Bowler Mohammad Aamer struck early and took three wickets for just 39 runs in 19 overs.

Pakistan New Captain Salman Butt used eight bowlers on day 1 against England. Pakistan spinner Danish Kaneria bowled 21 overs and finished wicket less day by giving 100 runs.

After loosing Cook early England batsmen Strauss and Trott tried to build the innings but Aamer struck once again to get rid off Strauss. After loosing Strauss England lost two more wickets with just 2 runs difference. But Morgan and Collingwood helps to reconstruct the England Innings and finished the day in favor of them.
