After doing the hard bit in the away leg in Athens, French champions Bordeaux only need to avoid defeat when they host Olympiakos in the second leg of their Champions League knockout tie.

Les Girondins picked up a priceless away win in the first leg thanks to Michael Ciani’s first half header. The defender nodded in Yoann Gourcuff’s free kick after Benoit Trémoulinas was adjudged to have been fouled by Olympiakos forward Lomana Lualua.


Olympiakos drew with PAS Giannina in their last game. Lualua and Matt Derbyshire scored for the Reds, but an unfortunate second half own goal from Olof Mellberg allowed PAS to come away with a point. Like Olympiakos, Bordeaux also drew their weekend Ligue 1 game against AS Monaco. However they managed to stay on top of Ligue 1 as second placed Montpellier also drew against Auxerre.
